“That a man can change himself…and master his own destiny is the conclusion of every mind who is wide-awake to the power of right thought.”~Christian D. Larson~
The law of attraction is said to be the power people have to literally bring certain things into their lives by merely believing in them or asking for them. Many have described it as asking the universe for what you want, finding the feeling of happiness you already have from having it, and letting it go. If you feel you have what you need and that everything is going your way, you’ll be less focused on what you’re lacking. In some ways, it gets a little more complicated as you dive further in, but it can actually make a lot of sense if you just think about it.
First of all, it’s important to employ some realistic viewpoints if you’re to accept the idea that you can merely change your beliefs to change your life. It’s easy to brush this off as pure silliness or some kind of so called new age psycho babble. There are a lot of examples everyone can pull from to see that a belief in the law of attraction does have some solid ground to draw from however. It’s usually as simple as thinking of your past disappointments in life.
The law of attraction sits somewhere in the realm of the old saying that goes “you get what you give.” So, think back to a time when you were worried something was going to go poorly and then, sure enough, it did. Maybe it was failing an important test or being turned down when asking someone out, or even that maybe your pets may have turned the house upside down while you were away longer than usual. There are all kinds of things along those lines that people worry about. What they don’t know is that they may very well be putting that negative vibration out into the universe, and as such, only working to make sure that those undesired outcomes are exactly what happens.
Maybe you can dismiss all this on the belief that such scenarios will always have some sort of 50/50 shot of turning out a certain way. If you think about it though, you’re almost sure to find a lot of personal experiences where what you worried would happen is exactly the way it turned out. Those are the kind of events in our lives that can really burn the most, and so they tend to stick with us. Now, just think what might have happened if you had always remained confident that everything was on the exact course you wanted all along rather than worrying.
It’s understandable if it’s still difficult for you to buy into an ability to change your mind to change your world, but you might also be helped by thinking of times when you actually got what you wanted, perhaps even against the odds. Most people can also think back to a time when they focused tons of their energy on one particular pursuit, whether it was tracking down a certain item they wanted or pulling off a particular achievement. Working towards such things is a lot more of a positive mindset.

More than likely, there was a degree of being able to see yourself having whatever it was you wanted before you even got it. No matter what it was you might have achieved or obtained, you were actually applying the law of attraction to do so whether you knew it or not. That’s really what it’s all about. If you want something a certain way, keeping a positive attitude about it and being able to really imagine it being that way will get you much further than taking a defeatist mindset.
Another easy way to find solid examples of the law of attraction in action is to think about the things you say about yourself on a regular basis. A lot of LOA teachings revolve around the power of the phrase “I am.” When you use those words, or even their contracted form, you’re making a very serious and resolute statement much of the time. No matter what it is, you’ll really start to believe what you’re saying in conjunction with those words, and sure enough, that’s exactly how it’s always going to be moving forward.
Again, you can likely pull from unfortunate negative experiences to see just how this works. A lot of people focus on what they aren’t able to do, and they’re quite to remind others of that in casual conversation. Let’s say something about music comes up when you’re talking with a group of people. Think of how often you’ve either said or heard someone else say something like “I’m not musically inclined” or “I wish I could sing but I can’t carry a note at all.” If that’s all you ever have to say about the matter, well, that’s precisely how it’s going to remain.
People take that sort of defeatist stance about themselves in a staggeringly high variety of ways literally all the time, and they do so without even a single care. It’s no wonder people are often so unhappy with their lives! At every other turn, they’re allowing themselves to stagnate rather than flourish. If you want to have a better life, you have to break free from all of those horribly negative habits. You can’t focus on what you lack and what you have yet to achieve or obtain. Doing so will only hold you back.
It’s much more useful to think of what you want and how wonderful it would feel if you were already in possession of it. It doesn’t matter what it is. If you stay positive and confident in your ability to accomplish what you want, the opportunities to facilitate that will be much more likely to either literally present themselves or be more apparent when they come to you if noting else. That’s exactly what using the law of attraction can do for you. Rather than brush it aside, accept it and use it to your advantage. It can literally change your life.
